Colorado is looking at limiting THC to 15% maximum!

March 29, 2016

Lately in Colorado, recreational cannabis is all the rage, however, state representatives and groups want to limit the amount of THC citing health concerns for children and others who cannot purchase products. Kathleen Conti (of Colorado house district 38) and are backing the proposed initiative to be put on the ballot next year. In order to be put on the ballot, a little over 98,000 registered Colorado voters have to vote for the initiative. Many question the constitutionality of the proposed initiative. With the majority of concentrates and edibles having more then 15% THC, some say it could threaten to wipe out the legal cannabis industry and the medical marijuana industry in Colorado as well. Many patients who suffer from extreme pain, PTSD, muscle spasms, and other medical disorders, utilize concentrates and edibles in order to control their pain, including treating eating disorders. In addition, manufacturers would be forced to put labeling on their products that "it could cause birth defects, inhibit brain growth, risk to children, breathing difficulties, permanent loss of abilities, mood swings, impaired thinking and body movement, depression, anxiety, paranoia, and long term additional side effects." With the Cannabis industry being new in Colorado and the laws are still being set in stone, anything is possible. Stay tuned these next couple months and remember to vote often in order to have your say on these proposed measures. Read more about it here
